UTI-trained, GM-certified Serving Phoenix since 2021

Floorjack Auto Repair is on N. Black Canyon Hwy in Deer Valley, off I-17 near Happy Valley Road, and an oil change here costs about what you expect to pay for one. The difference is who is under the car while it is up. A GM-certified shop does the work, and the shop that would have to fix whatever it misses is the one doing the looking.

Most Deer Valley driving is severe service

Open the maintenance section of your owner’s manual and you will find two schedules: a normal one and a severe one. Nearly everyone assumes the normal column is theirs, because their driving feels ordinary. Read what puts a vehicle in the severe column and Deer Valley ordinary lands there: repeated trips of only a few miles, long idling, sustained heat, dust and gravel roads, and towing.

That is the errand loop up here. Happy Valley Towne Center, a stop at The Shops at Norterra, a run down Deer Valley Road and back, none of it long enough for the oil to reach full temperature and cook off the moisture and fuel that collect in it. Add a Phoenix summer, the dust that blows off the desert and every graded lot along the I-17 frontage, and a trailer on the back a few weekends a year, and a vehicle qualifies on four counts at once.

Nobody at a quick lube reads that column with you. Which schedule your vehicle is actually on is the first thing we want to know, and it changes what we tell you about the next visit.

The Complete Care synthetic package

Our oil service is a package rather than a drain and fill, and it is currently $20 off. It covers:

  • Full synthetic oil, up to 5 quarts.
  • A new oil filter.
  • A tire rotation on the same visit.
  • A multi-point inspection of belts, hoses, and fluids.
  • A top-off of your coolant and washer fluid.

The rotation and the inspection are in the package price rather than offered to you at the counter afterward. Rotating tires on schedule is how you get the tread you paid for, and on a vehicle doing short heat-soaked trips, the inspection is what catches the next thing.

What we actually look at while it is up

The tires come off for the rotation, so the brakes are in plain sight and we look at pad thickness and rotor condition while we are there. Uneven tread wear tells us about alignment and suspension. Belts and hoses get checked because Arizona heat is what ages them, and so do the battery, the air filter that Valley dust loads up faster than the manual assumes, and the transmission and differential fluid on anything that tows.

Then we tell you what we found, including the parts of it that can wait. Nothing on that list has to be sold to you today for the visit to have been worth our time. We would rather you come back for the brake job in October and keep coming back after that.

Walk in or book ahead

You do not need an appointment. Walk-ins get worked in as bays open up, so if you are already out on the errand loop, pull into the frontage and we will take a look. Booking online holds time for you, which is worth doing if you want the rotation and the inspection done on the same visit. Either way you get the price before we start.

The full list of maintenance we handle, including the 30,000, 60,000, and 90,000-mile factory services and fluid work, is on our Maintenance & Oil Changes page. For everything else we do on this side of town, the Deer Valley auto repair overview covers it.

Common questions

Answers before you bring it in

We don’t keep the phone around for fun. Call us; we’re glad to help.

Call Us
How much is an oil change at your shop?

It depends on what your engine takes. Capacity runs from about five quarts on a four-cylinder to eight or more on a V8, and some engines call for a specific synthetic spec that costs more per quart than the shelf oil. So we quote your vehicle before we start rather than advertise a number that turns out not to apply to you. The Complete Care synthetic package is $20 off, and the rotation and inspection are in it, not added at the counter.

How often do I need an oil change driving around Deer Valley?

Look at the severe service column of your owner's manual, because most driving up here belongs in it. Short errand runs, long idling, months of heat, desert dust, and a trailer a few weekends a year are the exact conditions that column was written for. If your week is mostly trips of a few miles around Happy Valley Road and Deer Valley Road, you are on the shorter schedule even though the driving feels easy. We check your oil condition at each visit and tell you where you actually stand.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

Either works. Walk-ins are welcome and we get to them as bays free up, so if you are already out running errands off I-17 you can just pull in. Booking online holds a slot for you, which is the safer bet on a Friday or if you want the tire rotation and inspection done on the same visit. Call (623) 363-5990 if you would rather ask us how the day looks first.

Will an independent shop void my new-car warranty?

No. Federal law under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act says a manufacturer cannot require you to use a dealer for routine maintenance to keep your warranty. What matters is that the work is done on schedule with oil that meets the manufacturer's spec, and that you can prove it. We use the oil your vehicle calls for and give you documentation of what was done and when, so your service record holds up if you ever need it.

Where in Deer Valley are you, and can I wait for it?

21242 N. Black Canyon Hwy, Suite D, Phoenix, AZ 85027, on the I-17 frontage between Deer Valley Road and Happy Valley Road. An oil change is short enough that plenty of people wait for it, and the lot is easy in and out if you are already heading through the Happy Valley interchange. The key drop round the back is for the other kind of visit, the one where the inspection turns up something that needs the car for a day. We serve the 85027, 85085, 85310, and 85083 zip codes. Call (623) 363-5990 or book online.
