Most shops in the Valley that advertise truck repair mean gas trucks. When a diesel needs injectors or a turbo, the work usually goes to a dealer, because reaching that hardware means pulling the cab off the frame and many independent shops will not take it on. Floorjack Auto Repair does. Cab-off repair happens in our own bay, on our own lift, which is why a diesel owner in North Phoenix does not have to drive to a dealer for it.
Cab-off repair, done here
On a modern heavy-duty diesel, the parts most likely to fail are the ones buried under the cab. Injectors, the turbo, the valley, and the wiring that runs through it are all easier to reach from above with the cab off than they are through a fender well. A shop that does not do cab-off work has to quote around the problem or send the truck somewhere else, and that is where the waiting starts.
We pull the cab, do the work, and put it back. You get the quote before we start and a realistic timeline, not an estimate that grows once the truck is apart. A cab-off job is a bigger number than a brake job, which is exactly why the price goes in writing first, and financing is there to split it into payments if the timing is bad.
Engines we work on
Duramax, Power Stroke, and Cummins are the three that come through most. Owner Javen Coughlin is UTI-trained and GM-certified, which is where the deepest Duramax knowledge comes from, and that same diagnostic habit carries over to the Ford and Ram platforms he has been working on for years. The scan tool covers every diesel we see, so a code from a Power Stroke gets read the same way a Duramax code does.
Diesel diagnosis is its own skill. High-pressure fuel systems, variable-geometry turbos, and emissions hardware all throw codes that point somewhere other than the actual failure, and guessing is expensive on a truck where a single injector is a real bill. We test before we replace.
DPF, EGR, and DEF work
Emissions hardware is where most diesel owners first meet a repair shop. A clogged DPF, a cracked EGR cooler, a failed NOx sensor, or a DEF system throwing a countdown all land the truck in limp mode sooner or later. We diagnose and repair the whole exhaust side: the diesel particulate filter, the EGR valve and cooler, the DEF injector and pump, sensors, manifolds, and up-pipes.
Repairing these systems properly is the only legal path, and it is also the one that keeps the truck registerable. Arizona requires emissions testing in the Phoenix area, and a truck missing emissions equipment does not pass. A proper repair does.
Commercial and medium-duty trucks
We work on light and medium-duty diesels up to a 3500-frame box truck. That covers three-quarter-ton and one-ton pickups, cargo and work vans, flatbeds, service bodies, and box trucks built on a 3500 chassis. Small local fleets can set up a maintenance interval so filters, fluids, and inspections happen on a schedule instead of after a breakdown.
There are limits, and they are worth stating plainly: no semis, no trailers, no boats. If your truck is bigger than a 3500 chassis, we will tell you so on the phone rather than after you have driven out.
Performance and aftermarket work
Diesel owners often want more out of a truck that already works for a living, and there is plenty that can be done legally. We install and service exhaust systems that keep the factory emissions equipment in place, cold air intakes, upgraded intercoolers and boots, heavy-duty clutches and transmission coolers, leveling kits and suspension lifts, wheels and tires, and gauges. Towing setups, brake controllers, and aftermarket bumpers are straightforward work.
What we do not do is remove emissions equipment or tune around it. That violates the federal Clean Air Act, and a truck with emissions hardware missing fails Maricopa County emissions testing, so it cannot be registered here. The repair bay is where most of our diesel work happens anyway.
Diesel brakes, suspension, and maintenance
A three-quarter-ton truck that tows is hard on parts a commuter car never stresses. Loaded brakes cook, leaf springs sag, ball joints and steering components wear early, and oil intervals mean something different when the pan holds fifteen quarts. We handle all of it under the same roof, with the parts and capacities a diesel actually calls for.
If you are here for one of those jobs on a gas vehicle instead, the general pages cover them: brake and chassis service, engine diagnostics and repair, and maintenance and oil changes.
